Research Paper Reflection

12-13-24

Since I have not yet been graded on my Research Paper, I am not sure which portions I may have overlooked in the rubric, however I do have some notes on the assignment and paper itself. Firstly, I found that—in my observations of others and myself—it is much easier to make a defendable claim/thesis in a paper utilizing statistical evidence rather than hard fact. I found that having a thesis explaining a causal relationship between two non-trivial things made evidence difficult to find. I feel like this may be a point where my paper failed, as it lacked evident backing for my claims rather than simply reasoning why they conclude to the thesis. Although for the Literature Review the feeling as though I was writing too much under stream-of-consciousness was untrue, for the Research Paper, I felt as though much of my reasoning was run-on, and therefore not fully convincing. Despite my shortcomings on the paper, I am otherwise very proud of it. I struggled with reading and digesting the information at the beginning of the project, however by the end, I was very happy to answer any questions about it, and even learn more past the presentation and paper’s due date.
